From March 2017, we now offer Holter monitoring for dogs. This allows us to assess dogs with suspected heart arhythmia problems over a 24 hour period. This is important in Boxers, Dobermans, Great Danes and less frequently in other breeds of dogs.
Dogs are fitted with stick-on electrodes, covered with a fitted jacket and attached to a small, portable electrocardiograph (ECG) recorder. The procedure is painless.Once fitted we expect dogs to participate in their normal routine for the next 24 hours (excluding swimming). When completed, we remove the recorder, jacket and electrodes. The recorded information is uploaded to an analysis centre and we receive the results the following day.
